Online advertising programs
Tuesday, August 21st, 2007 by adminThis post is in regards to online advertising methods and the websites/companies that provide services to website/blog owners for earning money to make posts and or other advertisements. I am growing more discouraged with these types of programs as time progresses.
It seems that the programs all have there TOS and it is very easy to violate it without even thinking much of it at all. After I have experimented with a number of these different programs I have decided that there should be some guidelines that website/blog owners should follow as a rule of thumb and it may just spur these advertising affiliates into better practice.
Think of your website/blog as a newspaper. If you open your local newspaper you will see advertising for at minimum 30 companies many even being competitors all on the same page. These newspapers on an average are read by a percentage of the town or cities population. The small little 2-inch by one-inch ads can cost upwards of a few hundred dollars a week to run.
The online advertising affiliate programs and such expect that you will provide them with a minimum of a 200-word post or article describing their service or goods. They expect that you will do this for them for $20.00 or less and leave the ad active for 30+ days. Not only do they expect you to do this for pennies but they also expect that their ad will not be on the same page or near any other advertisement.
Well first off I don’t know about anyone else but in my city there are 58’000 people and assuming every one of them read the newspaper my website still reaches double that amount in a month at least. Now that it is obvious that we have a greater reach than a newspaper why is it that we get paid chump change?
After thinking about all of this I have decided that I do not go looking for affiliates. They look for me. If they want a post, great they will get a post and a good one at that. If they want to have a full page ad so be it they can have that to but we are talking about real estate here so the more ad space the greater the cost. Unlike a newspaper though we do require some level of decency and proper business practice for the companies we advertise for. If we decide a company is not up to our standards we are not about to tell our viewers that they are reputable. We will also not run advertisements for any program or affiliate that requires us to not have more than one ad per page or anything even close to that kind of tactic so if you are one of these you might as well not bother or you may want to change your TOS before contacting us. Before I go the last thing I must state is that we refuse to run advertisements that require us to remove internal links from our posts. What this means is that if my site has a page named kwidget and in an advertisement the word kwidget is used, the website will make it a link to the kwidget page on my own site. Think about it. If you go to Wal-Mart or the like and go to the shampoo isle what do you see? Sum 18 different brands of shampoo. What do you think would happen if Suave decided to contact Wal-Mart and tell them they could not have their product in the same isle or on the same shelf as any others. Well Wal-Mart would likely tell them well pay us more or we stop carrying your product since it is an unrealistic request. Anyway that is just a few of my thoughts on the matter and what we are doing about it. Hopefully others will follow and show the advertising world that we are not a joke and you wont get our prime real estate for nothing.
Calculate yourself into a better future
Sunday, March 25th, 2007 by adminI was checking out some online Investment Calculators at iloancalculator.com and so now I shall give a bit of a review.
The first I checked out was the simple loan calculator looks very nice at first but after playing with it for a bit it is a bit buggy. The needle graphs seem to be accurate for a moment and then go out of whack. I think once you let go of the slider being dragged they are more accurate. It is excessively difficult to fine-tune the sliders. Say I want to set the term to 48 months, I can get it to 46 or 52 but not right on 48. This would be more easily achieved by using click with mouse while pressing the left or right arrow keys for making smaller adjustments.
The Accelerated Mortgage Payoff Calculator the same as the previous looks great at first but this one seems even worse due to the graphical intensity I believe. While adjusting the sliders in this calculator my mouse cursor disappeared and took a few moments to reappear. As soon as the blue bar images are resized the mouse comes back. This is not something that should be happening on a 3Ghz P4 with 1GB DDR2 memory. I am not able to give any feedback on the accuracy of this calculator due to the issues I have experienced.
Oh and a Become a Millionaire Calculator. That is something I have been drawing out on paper for years. It is very cool to see it for the first time in a graphical chart. Although the same sorts of issues apply with all the calculators I have tried the idea is solid and it will give you a general idea of what you are looking at for each without a doubt. I am assuming they may not be intended. I love the idea and I am sure I will go back to check out some of the other calculators they have.

tales from an unaware spender
Thursday, March 22nd, 2007 by adminHave you ever tried to get a loan? Weather it be a secured loan or an unsecured loan I have yet to try for a few reasons. The first being that I highly doubt that I have a good enough credit rating to get a loan with a reasonable interest rate and to compare loans seems to be more a vision of a nightmare to me.
I have known others who have been able to get loans without a problem with little to no credit but just the same it seems it ends in one loan to pay off another then transfer this balance to that balance in hopes for a better outcome when it is only delaying the inevitable while wracking the overall bill up even higher.
The main reason I am told I would not easily get accepted for a loan is my method in paying bills. I do not like hearing from bill collectors or anything like that so I prepay all my expenses for months and more often years or more at a time. Overall I think that if the person looking to find a loan is already financially stable then it is not a bad idea at all and can do wonders for your credit rating from what I have seen. I think it is something you should weigh out all pros and cons to and come up with detailed budgets as for how you intend to make payments and so on also figuring in things like protection if you become unemployed or otherwise physically incapable of making your payments.
From what I have seen that is a common additional feature you can add in with your loan. It does increase the payments a bit I believe but would surely be worth it in the long run. I think I may look into getting a personal loan just to see if I can kick off some great credit.

Content Theft
Friday, March 2nd, 2007 by adminThis is only the beginning of a list I am sure will grow very large.
Below you will find a list thieves. Each site listed will be shown for what they are, criminals. Theft of content and copy written works is against the law. As you may not have noticed our content is copy written as every page informs you of in the sidebar.
I do not want these losers getting ratings for links back so I have removed that possibility. As we go on I am sure we will get some people who we outright tick off because we refuse to remove there name from this list but the only reason they found themselves here is due to refusal to do one of two things. Remove our content from their advertisement pages or provide a link back to us without the no-follow attribute in it. Rather simple if you ask me. Doesn’t seem it is overly worth possible future charges due to infringement now does it? If you would like to be removed from this list and have not already then do one of the things I just mentioned and then contact us with the address in question. Some of the owners of these sites may not know of this even having happened so we urge them to contact us in the same way. Just the same though if you see it in this list chances are you should just not bother going to there site and find another that will more suit what you really wanted to find. What you will find by this list though is that many of these are actually the same website with different names.
Now that I am seeing how many of these are the same exact person I am thinking I am targeting him in particular to start. Remove my content now or suffer the consequences.
I ask that google and any other search engine take a good look at this list. By the looks of it most are the same person so to eliminate this issue or at least cut down on it a bit would be as simple as one person or group being eliminated. I am going to give the list to a friend of mine at google just the same and let him deal with what happens to search results with these addresses in them. Meanwhile help spread the word. Everyone has my explicit permission to copy this article and spread it everywhere on the web. Enjoy and look out for content theft. As we do now maybe you should implement something that feeds up special content for these theift that says they are crooks or that they are stealing from the original author or whatever you can think up. That should slow them down a bit

I need some opinions on this one. All the others feeds are now jacked
This one here though I have left alone for now because it apears as though may be an atempt at a legit search engine of some type anyway. Not! They do not seem to take full texts just headlines and they actualy link to the article. What concerns me though is that first of all they have no contact information for removal of content or anything for that matter. I also notice there is not a single add anywhere so I am even thinking they were stripped of the right to use adds. Any ideas? Same goes for the rest in the list. If it is legit and done proper there is no issue with it. Feel free to contact us with your dispute. Seriously enough though what this looks like to me is the direct product of every single get rich online in 30 days scheme. You have a real basic crapy website plain jane generated with dreamweaver or some crap and then you set it up to look like a search engine. You give it a fancy title. Throw in your add code generator and then throw in something to steel the feeds for topics related to various preset categories. This is the type of thing I read about tonight. Some “rich jerk” guy. Looked over his content and what he offers up for information and I do not know either way but what I do know is I found this guys site by searching for my fingerprint and voila now I am reading about how he made his fortunes and anyone can do it blah blah.. So yea maybe you can make some money quick short few bucks then get banned from your host or isp and then have to move to a new one and other nice things like that. Yea no thanks. I am good. Overall I think I am happy with the choice to ban these eleged directories. The majority are just tom foolery.

This site uses our content to but you can eventually find your way back to us through digg but just the same they as well have no permission to use our content.

A few more have been added to the list. I am also updating this post due to the fact that even this very post has already been stollen and is being used now on a site that the elleged editors name is Tony Green next his would be picture but if you right click it and view picture you will see that according to the name of the picture this guys name is roger. Tony Green does not exist or at least not for anything to do with those websites. That is who they want you to think that it is. Just the same we are contacting hostgator who is the host provider they use. Something will be done on the part of hostgator or we will be forced to bring this to a federal level. This is theft and they know that they are stealing otherwise they would not have gone to the extent they have to hide there true identity. More on this will be posted here as this progresses.
Back again. Host gator is a reseller for theplanet dot com so we are contacting theplanet’s admin directly.
Quit Smoking CigArrest is a SCAM
Thursday, March 1st, 2007 by adminA friend of mine named **** ****** asked me if I could do him a favor by ordering him a sample of this quit smoking offer he had seen. I said it would be fine and as I listened to the call from less than 2 feet from him I as well as 6 other people in the room heard him state very clearly to the sales representative on the phone that he wanted to be clear that the amount of 5.94 would be a one time charge and that it was just for a one time sample and he also made it very clear that he was not using his credit card and that it was a friends who was in the room with him. The phone was handed to me. I then verified the amount to be charged and that it would not be reoccurring. This was around 12/18/2006.
Since then I received the following charges to one of my accounts
12/26/06 0.25 0.00 0.00 Debit Card W/D: Debit Check Card 41.34

So now I log into this account and see 5 transactions. That caused a bit of alarm and looks a bit like fraudulent activity to me and is not for the amount that was agreed on per the phone conversation. I immediately called the number listed in the charges and inquired about this strange activity and the woman I spoke to assured me that this was normal for how they do there billing. She said I should expect that they would continue these charges until the 5.94 were paid. I said that would be just fine that was the amount agreed on but that I wanted to make sure that the account was canceled and that would be the end of it as soon as the 5.94 was paid off. She said that it was canceled at that time. This was 12/25/06.
Later that day and then the following day the last two charges came in and then stopped. All is seemingly well and good. Or so I thought anyway. Here we are in March and I log into the aforementioned account and this is what I see. I have a charge from this B R*CIGARREST once again. This time though it is for 79.84. This in turn has caused 2 overdrafts on the account, due to the auto payments that the money had been in the account for not being in it any more. At 27 bucks a piece that cost me a total of 54.00 right after this next transaction.
02/23/07 79.84 0.00 0.00 Debit Card W/D: Debit Check Card 13.99

So now they have charged me another 79.84 after I cancelled and it has cost me 54.00 as a result. I am not very happy. So here we go again. It is 03/01/2007 10:35 am. I call the 800 number that is shown in the transactions. Option 2 and then option 3. I get a woman named Vicky employee (id 6007) I explain the situation. I am told sorry there is nothing I can do to refund your money. I said that there surely is. It is either that they refund my money or I am taking it to court and suing for the amount charged to me for something I have not received nor did I order plus the fees incurred as a result of this fraudulent activity on my account. She said well sorry there is nothing I can do for you but I will give you this address to write your complaint to.
Reference ********** attn: satisfaction dept
170 Eucalyptus Ave
Vista CA, 92084
Well that is surely what I will do is write to that address plus post this on my website to inform all of our users of this scam. I have since found that they are on a site called ripoffreport. As of this moment they are into me for $133.84 my bank has been informed and any further transactions made by this company will result in further fees added to the suit for punitive damages and any other fees my lawyers decide to think up while they are at it. I warn all users to not do business with this company including not accepting the free 30 trial-offers with only the obligation to pay shipping. It is a scam. Only do it if you have bought a pre paid credit card that has no money left on it by the time they charge it which will be about 2 days after your order of the free supply. Chances are you will never get the order but you will be doing them the same injustice that they do to so many. Cost them a few bucks in time because they are into plenty of innocent folks for well more than what you could possibly cost them.
Search Marketing
Tuesday, February 27th, 2007 by adminWe have been testing out a few Pay Per Click type services and have come across this one that goes by the name of apogee. After some reading on their website we have found that they are one of the first companies that is Google AdWords Qualified. They should be the first in the Nation due to the way they have run things over there but they are first in Texas anyway. Just the same PPC and PPP are not new ideas in marketing at all.
They have been around since before the Internet really. Think back to those envelope stuffers and things of the like. They are literally the same thing. Most of them you would come to find out after spending hundreds in postage and man-hours that you wasted your time and your buck. That is not how Apogee works though. They are very specific when it comes to SEO and search engine marketing. Stop over to their website and see what they are up to for yourself.
The beginning of an end?
Friday, February 23rd, 2007 by adminI cannot help but to notice that it seems we have found the beginning of an end to the days of search engine’s for finding results related to what you are looking for on the web. At this point it is almost to the point that you better just know before hand what you want to find and where to find it because what we once knew as meta keywords and the newer content keywords are just about pointless now.
Earlier today I ran a query on a few of the keywords we use which I might add we only use relevant keywords to what you will find on our website. The results did not surprise me much. We are number one in the major search engines and within the top 7 at most others. Not to bad I must say but here are a few of the things we have been noticing.
About 4 weeks ago we noticed that our content was appearing in search engine results but not under our link. Ok so maybe it is because they are linking back to us. Yea… Not a chance! So we go to the website that has a title like asylum et Halloween. You do not see our content on the site nor do you see any link to us. As a matter of fact what you do see is some google advertisements or other PPC (pay per click) type adds.
So now just what happened here? After about half a moment of thought we use view source in ie or Page Source in Firefox. Now we notice a few lines in the <head>… </head> tags. In between the tags we see that we have some obfuscated JavaScript. After examination of the poor attempt at disguising what was really going on we find that they are using the JavaScript to grab results from other sites and generate hidden keyword text in their page from other sites. And then of coarse after getting some of the traffic that intended to find the original content the user sees adds and such in which case like it or not are clicked and these fools are paid for it.
Another thing we have noticed is that it is really even worse than we had thought. Asylum Entertainment, and Asylum-ET being an abbreviation of Asylum Entertainment is what we chose as a trade name for our company in 1992. We have registered Asylum Entertainment as a trade name. Now we see that there are other Asylum Entertainment’s out there as well. One being what I have been told is a great game making company and another being a film production company. There are others as well but I wont list any others because they are not at all entertainment related.
Overall we do not mind sharing the name with these other companies under certain restrictions I will describe further below. We are an entertainment-oriented company in the fullest extent of the meaning. We cover literally every corner of entertainment. Film, photography, bands, dj’s, theatrical and staged performances, parades or whatever you can think of really. We have even written a few games for that matter as well as being a private record label which is an organization of many artists. We provide access to vendor services, Organization and coordination of events. The list is just about endless so we have come to a point that the name Asylum Entertainment and other versions of it have started to become genericized.
This is a bit troublesome at first thought but I personally will provide my fullest abilities to maintain that the two previous companies and our own Asylum ET remain at the top of search engine results being that they are the only ones that have any reason to come up for such a search query. We have even contemplated partnering up with these two other non-affiliated companies for nothing more than to protect our name from genericide. This at the moment is not a public matter though so we will not go any deeper into that yet. Just the same though this is not just a problem with our trade name but with many others as well. I encourage all companies that maintain a website to look into who is using their trade name or anything else provided as content such as text, media or whatever. It is not proper nor is it legal in most cases that someone uses your content alone due to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act unless you give them specific written permission to do so especially if they are using it solely to divert your traffic to their web advertisements.
Home and Auto Insurance
Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 by adminWe are reviewing a company called ASDA Financial Services. They are a part of the Wal-Mart family so right off with the good experience I have had with Wal-Mart if they are affiliated with them then I guess they should definitely be worthy of a deeper look into what services they have to offer.
From what we have found they provide car insurance and home insurance at reasonable rates as well as many other products you would expect to find at a shopping center. The website they have has a clean looking layout and is very welcoming. I am not completely sure but it seems as though they are not based in the USA so that is a bit of a set back for me using their services but just the same check them out for yourself. You may find them to be just what you were looking for. Go and see what they offer for Home Insurance or car insurance.

Who in the world is Steven Vornea?
Wednesday, February 21st, 2007 by adminAbout 8:30 Wednesday night I found myself asking the question… Who is Steven Vornea and what should I write about him? So I clicked a thing or two and have found that there are two websites to tell you just who Steven Vornea is and one that just sounds like Steven Vornea. Now at this point you may be thinking ok so who is this Steve character already and why are you writing about him. Well to answer that. I was asked to write a thing or two about Steven Vornea and his websites so here we are.
With both the websites I have looked at I have to say that they are both welcoming at first look. There is about Steven Vornea that I looked at first then I found that I think steven-vornea.com is more inviting and easier to navigate. Neither site layout meets web standards for compliance but should not render to many user browsers useless. It could cause heavier load on their server and higher maintenance costs but I suppose that may be a good sign.
Nothing wrong with saying we got money because we are just that good I guess especially when you are in real estate. I am not personally in the market for their services but from what I see I would have to say if I was in the market I would be buying!
