Cross Browser Compatibility
We have been spending allot of time lately trying to add new features to our site for our users and the thing that has consumed the largest amount of our time is cross browser compatibility. It is seriously crazy. I cannot even begin to describe the frustration experienced with this issue. After thousands of hours of work I have started to wonder why it is that as a web developer you must fight with trying to make your web application cross browser compatible when you have already fought so hard to get it to be web standard and compliant.
Is this not really the job of the browser to meet web standards and to properly recognize proper coding? In my opinion it surely is. We use firefox web browser and recommend it to all. Statistics show that firefox is used about 30% more than Internet explorer already. With the new ie 7 out you would think ie 6 would be a thing of the past but I removed ie 7 from my personal machine. It altered to many things that change the way programs that I have on my machine would run. A good majority of programs stopped working altogether after installing it so I reverted back to ie 6 and don’t use it as a web browser.
Any software that I have written up to this point is rendered useless to the future other than to possibly convert anything that uses ie to use ff instead. Way to much time would be involved with that though so really the release of ie 7 alone was a hit to sale of any of the software I refer to. That sux just a bit. That is why I don’t write software any more. Now I refer to what I write as webware. One more reason for you to switch
Everything I write and others as well will look and work so much better for you. If not for anything else do it for me. Get firefox today. It just makes sense.
Firefox renders style sheets properly, handles javascript more securely, a friendly user interface with ability to easily change the look and feel, the same style tabs that ie 7 has for browsing multiple websites in one window. Yea that came from firefox! Oh yea and did I happen to mention free. Anyway we encourage you to make the switch. Download it today and replace that nasty old E Icon you click on with some style.
