For those of you who don’t know what Bris Corner is or why it is here I shall fill you in.
Bri is one of my daughters who has gone with me on many of the events we have attended helping out, learning the trade and let me tell you what. She is one straight up business minded individual and I see Asylum-ET going good places when in her hands.
She picks only the most proper of atire and remains more well mannered than most adults I know. So anyway some time back my little girl wanted to write things on the web like I do. I taught her some basic html. Colors and layout type of stuff. And then decided to introduce her to my website being that she is the next in line to have my chair it is only fair to give her some room to play for a bit. This decision prompted changes to be made here. We have implemented word censors so as not to remove content but to make it more friendly just the same.
Since then I have decided to turn over our blog sub domain to her since our blog is located in our main domain and the sub domain was just a test bed.
The only reason Bris-Corner remains here now is for archiving. If you are interested in reading what a young one thinks about school or anything like that she really has some interesting concerns and ideas you may like to see.
A bit back I wrote a post telling you about this new PayPerPost thing everyone is buzzing about. I told you that we would keep you informed and here it is.
As of this very moment we have not actually been paid any money for any posts that I have made at PayPerPost. This is perfectly normal and expected though. We do not expect to see payments from them for a little bit longer but I have no doubt at all that pay will be there. The program is really that good and I know other people that have been using them for some time now so this is one I really feel good about.
So far we have made a few posts for PPP and of them most are currently in moderation. A few have already been accepted. So far the amount we will be paid: is a little over 50.00. That seriously is not half bad for the amount of time that had to be taken away from other work to do this. You do want to make sure to read the specifics for requirements and make sure you understand each before you take an opportunity. Not all opps as they call them are likely to fit your site or your taste but there are many to choose from and there is no requirement to do any if you don’t want.
I am personally recommending that you utilize blog marketing to its fullest extent. Either as a blogger or company you will definitely be happy with them. I know we are. We have a few advertising methods implemented here and so far I rate PPP number one in payouts and in no way do I see that changing any time soon either.
Our intentions for using PPP and what we plan to continue doing in the future is diverting some of the costs of running this website from being money directly out of my pocket to money that is generated by keeping our users informed of items, good service and so on that we select as worthy of there viewing as well as providing our sponsors with traffic from our site geared to what they wanted.
One note I want to make clear is that you better make sure to have some form of UCC Detection for your site before making posts for PPP. We fortunately have as we had discussed in previous posts but this would definitely make you an unhappy camper if you came unprepared.
Props to PayPerPost Keep up the good work over there guys. Great new features you have added.
Today I bought myself a new base. The neck on the Jackson I have used for years now has decided to split so now I found this 5 string Washburn Bantam bass and I got a real good deal on it. Retails for about $699.00 but since it was my step fathers I got it from him for $125 bucks. Not to bad a deal. Well anyway the bass is really nice. It is black with EMG pickups. The thing I am finding though is that the neck is huge. The Jackson I had was so thin and the frets where nice and close but this thing is like you must have an inch long pinky let alone the size of any of the other fingers. The frets are about 2 inches between each or better. The Jacksons where bairly over an inch. The fatter neck is not overly uncomfortable or anything and I kind of like that it is just the spacing between frets.
I am going to play it for a few weeks to see if I can adjust to it but if not I may decide to sell it. Have yet to decide there because we already have everything from sum 18 guitars both electric and acoustic, a drum set, PA systems, loud speakers, light trussing, special effects lighting. Really anything you can think of except a bass since the Jackson broke so maybe I will keep it just for the sake of having it for our bands. We shall see I guess. I will get a picture of it and post it here later.
We have been testing out a few Pay Per Click type services and have come across this one that goes by the name of apogee. After some reading on their website we have found that they are one of the first companies that is Google AdWords Qualified. They should be the first in the Nation due to the way they have run things over there but they are first in Texas anyway. Just the same PPC and PPP are not new ideas in marketing at all.
They have been around since before the Internet really. Think back to those envelope stuffers and things of the like. They are literally the same thing. Most of them you would come to find out after spending hundreds in postage and man-hours that you wasted your time and your buck. That is not how Apogee works though. They are very specific when it comes to SEO and search engine marketing. Stop over to their website and see what they are up to for yourself.
Jan 18th 2007 we released the Google Sitemap Parser plugin for wordpress. As of Jan 24th 2007 it has been downloaded 298 times. Our support forum for it has remained open and now has 13 posts and 6 threads 7 of the posts are questions or comments and the rest are answers and resolutions to issues found as well as a description of the plugins use. This collection of threads has been viewed 306 times. Download Google Sitemap Parser
Jan 20th 2007 we released the Google Elmer Fudd Seawch sidebar widgit for wordpress
As of Feb 23rd 2007 it had been downloaded 87 times. The support forums for it have remained open as well but there are 0 threads and posts. Download Google Elmer Fudd Seawch
The sitemap plugin is a practical plugin, has plenty of good use and we will continue to develop on it for a while. The support forums for it will remain open at this time.
The Elmer fudd search is a bit lame after a few times but it was a good chuckle for a bit. If the support forum thread for it is not used within the next 30 days or so we will likely close it. The sidebar widgit can still be demonstrated by navigating to the very bottom of this page and to the right in the sidebar you will see what is now called Google Fun Search. You will notice we have added a few more languages to it. This plugin would be good for someone to look at if they were interested in having a multi language search on their website. Between viewing the code provided in the download and using view source here you should be able to figure it out.
Overall we will continue to offer these plugins for download until they are no longer downloaded for a period of probably more than 60 – 90 days or so I guess.
If you are using one of these plugins or any of our other custom work feel free to leave your comments or thoughts on extending them or anything else over in our general discussion forum.
At Asylum Entertainment we cover a large scale of things mostly entertainment related but we have an in house web developer… Me So any comments or ideas for improvements to the site or things you would like to see here are encouraged in the general forum as well. We do want to keep our website entertainment oriented. Still though software can be entertaining can’t it. Heh… Especially when you come into work and watch your boss as his temper escalates while debugging Fred’s code for a client because Fred walked out today so then what happens. Boss man snaps, the poor monitor is over in Janine’s cubicle sparks flying everywhere… Anyway have fun folks. We’ll be seeing ya.
I cannot help but to notice that it seems we have found the beginning of an end to the days of search engine’s for finding results related to what you are looking for on the web. At this point it is almost to the point that you better just know before hand what you want to find and where to find it because what we once knew as meta keywords and the newer content keywords are just about pointless now.
Earlier today I ran a query on a few of the keywords we use which I might add we only use relevant keywords to what you will find on our website. The results did not surprise me much. We are number one in the major search engines and within the top 7 at most others. Not to bad I must say but here are a few of the things we have been noticing.
About 4 weeks ago we noticed that our content was appearing in search engine results but not under our link. Ok so maybe it is because they are linking back to us. Yea… Not a chance! So we go to the website that has a title like asylum et Halloween. You do not see our content on the site nor do you see any link to us. As a matter of fact what you do see is some google advertisements or other PPC (pay per click) type adds.
So now just what happened here? After about half a moment of thought we use view source in ie or Page Source in Firefox. Now we notice a few lines in the <head>… </head> tags. In between the tags we see that we have some obfuscated JavaScript. After examination of the poor attempt at disguising what was really going on we find that they are using the JavaScript to grab results from other sites and generate hidden keyword text in their page from other sites. And then of coarse after getting some of the traffic that intended to find the original content the user sees adds and such in which case like it or not are clicked and these fools are paid for it.
Another thing we have noticed is that it is really even worse than we had thought. Asylum Entertainment, and Asylum-ET being an abbreviation of Asylum Entertainment is what we chose as a trade name for our company in 1992. We have registered Asylum Entertainment as a trade name. Now we see that there are other Asylum Entertainment’s out there as well. One being what I have been told is a great game making company and another being a film production company. There are others as well but I wont list any others because they are not at all entertainment related.
Overall we do not mind sharing the name with these other companies under certain restrictions I will describe further below. We are an entertainment-oriented company in the fullest extent of the meaning. We cover literally every corner of entertainment. Film, photography, bands, dj’s, theatrical and staged performances, parades or whatever you can think of really. We have even written a few games for that matter as well as being a private record label which is an organization of many artists. We provide access to vendor services, Organization and coordination of events. The list is just about endless so we have come to a point that the name Asylum Entertainment and other versions of it have started to become genericized.
This is a bit troublesome at first thought but I personally will provide my fullest abilities to maintain that the two previous companies and our own Asylum ET remain at the top of search engine results being that they are the only ones that have any reason to come up for such a search query. We have even contemplated partnering up with these two other non-affiliated companies for nothing more than to protect our name from genericide. This at the moment is not a public matter though so we will not go any deeper into that yet. Just the same though this is not just a problem with our trade name but with many others as well. I encourage all companies that maintain a website to look into who is using their trade name or anything else provided as content such as text, media or whatever. It is not proper nor is it legal in most cases that someone uses your content alone due to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act unless you give them specific written permission to do so especially if they are using it solely to divert your traffic to their web advertisements.
I am back again to keep you updated about this whole Pay Per Post thing that we told you about a few days ago. So far I must say that there is no complaints. The service is great. We have done a few posts with them and the payout is there so definitely no joke here. These guys are the real deal. All I can say is it is about time there is a system like this that actual meets their end of the bargain.
I have even used other service types like drop shippers that were highly raved or of coarse we have all tried those get paid to take surveys and not a single one of them has even come close to the amount of excellence you can expect from PPP. The latest news over there at Pay Per Post is that they are now offering $1000 for a single sponsored post using blog marketing. That is just outrageous. You can be sure I am happy to have found Pay Per Post.
Unlike other Internet marketers PPP only charges a 35% service fee unlike others who have as much as a 100% markup. PPP is ideal for both high and low traffic blogs. Disclosure is required from all bloggers using PPP.
Over the next few days we will be doing some work on the sitemap so there may be some down time experienced for some users. Not to worry though it will only be temporary and should not affect the rest of the site. We apologize in advance if it does though. Please bear with us in trying to make our website a better place for you to browse.
If you have any comments or suggestions feel free to stop over to our forum and leave us a message in the General thread.
We are reviewing a company called ASDA Financial Services. They are a part of the Wal-Mart family so right off with the good experience I have had with Wal-Mart if they are affiliated with them then I guess they should definitely be worthy of a deeper look into what services they have to offer.
From what we have found they provide car insurance and home insurance at reasonable rates as well as many other products you would expect to find at a shopping center. The website they have has a clean looking layout and is very welcoming. I am not completely sure but it seems as though they are not based in the USA so that is a bit of a set back for me using their services but just the same check them out for yourself. You may find them to be just what you were looking for. Go and see what they offer for Home Insurance or car insurance.
I took Bri to see Bridge to Terabithia the other night. That was a pretty decent movie. I would recommend seeing it yourself. I had a few issues though. The movie theatre stated that the movie started at 7:pm and ran till 9:20 pm. That is a bit lengthy for a movie but that is fine considering it cost about 8 bucks to sit in the theatre and for my little girl, not to mention the 15 dollars for 2 drinks and a few pieces of candy. So for about 25 bucks we get to sit in on this movie that did not start till 20 after 7 and for the first 10 minutes ran with no audio. Then the audio starts and oh my god, just turn it off. It sounds as though 5 of the six altech lansing house speakers I might add are blown.
The theatre smells of urine. The floor looks like it has not been cleaned in months. At 20 of 9 the movie lets out. Allot sooner than expected but then as the lights come up I am blown away. The walls of the theatre are trashed as well. I had noticed signs as we originally entered stating that they have surveillance for this purpose. I guess either a: they just say that for the heck of it or b: they get paid just the same so they don’t really care anyway. Either way I am not going to ever go back to the Movieplex 9 in Rutland. Go to Wal-Mart. Buy the movie you wish to see for about 15 bucks, get soda and snacks for about 4 bucks. Watch the movie and enjoy.
