God on the air
Here we are in 2006, big media has infiltrated all of our homes. I have noticed a huge shift in what gets airplay. Has anyone else noticed that God has been bleeped out of some songs. One in particular is Panic at the disco – I write sins not tragedies. The word God is silenced. Why is this. Is it now against the law to say God on the air? I hear words like whore, bitch, fagot, references to hardcore drugs and how cool it is to sell them. What the heck is going on? So yes in this song maybe it is about how the word is used.
Well does it really matter with all the garbage that spills out the speakers already. I live in the United States. One Nation under what? God I thought. I also thought freedom of speech was a God given right. This is not something that any constitution, person or country can infringe on. If you don’t like it do you not have the option to just not listen? Switch the dial! Maybe the am band is more appropriate for you. I mean really my child gets to listen to Black eyed peas – my humps, Eric Clapton – Cocain, Kelis – Milkshake. Are these songs any less offensive?
What is the message we are bringing to our children with this? I threw my radio out! No it is not because I have a problem with what I hear, I am capable of changing it if it is offensive. It is that I have a problem with what I don’t hear. This is our “freedom” or may I should say was.

Ok so I need to add another song that I have just heard on the radio. Eminem – Loose yourself. Cuz, man, these goddamn food stamps don’t buy diapers on the radio is Cuz, man, these grshnam food stamps don’t buy diapers.

I was under the impression that God was censored in such phrases as godd*mn was out of pseudo-respect, rather than to remove mention of religiosity. Failing that, perhaps it’s just one of the “big” vulgarities, like b*tch, f*ck, and so on — which I commonly hear censored from radio broadcasts.

I agree that it is likely that they censor that due to its nature and I do hear other words censored as you mention. What really makes my blood boil is the sound of a female orgasm repetitiously throughout a song that the radio dj has added. Now this type of thing in a club or bar is totally acceptable but on the air?

Amen to that; society’s gratuitous use of and comfort level with sex as a whole is both degrading and pathetic. My life, personally, doesn’t revolve around sex and hedonism and I’d be surprised if it ever did. If you’ve ever heard of the pendulum theory, we’re just at the hedonistic end of the arc; all we can do is wait this crap out.
Good riddance.

I am revisiting this post because after a few months have gone by I went and totaled the (S)am, (P)aul, (A)dam, (M)ark count for the website. Now I am disgusted. Out of close to 2000 of this type of unwanted comments 84% of them are to this post alone. Not only are they to this post but they are all nasty filth. Every last one goes on about big this wet that.
Either A: there are way to many children online or B: some twit has wasted a load of his bosses money trying to Ham our blog which as you can see does not work so give it up already. If you don’t have something good to say or a legit comment don’t wast your time and furthermore it does not matter how great a comment is if you put links to filth in the comment I am likely to remove your links and allow the comment through with no link to you so still do not waste your time unless you enjoy feeding me with content and you not being credited for it than I don’t mind.
